The Team have started their annual Spring Campaign this week, re-visiting streets previously called on in the autumn’s Moving In Campaign.

The aim of the four-week door-knocking campaign is to provide key information to students around living in the local community and to discuss both student and long-term residents’ experiences of living in Our Shared City.

We are providing student residents with a reminder of how to sort, store, and present waste and recycling for kerbside collection, to bring containers and bins back onto the property outside of collection times and a reminder of your collection day, as well as information on how to book a slot Bath’s recycling centre on Midland Road.

Students are also being reminded of the importance of reporting issues such as maintenance problems and damp and mould to their landlord or letting agent. More information on tackling damp and mould can be found via damp, mould and cold homes.

But don’t forget, if your landlord is not resolving maintenance issues reported within the timeframes below, you can report these to the B&NES Council.

Landlords need to complete repairs ‘within a reasonable period of time’. The period that we consider to be ‘reasonable’ depends on the seriousness of the problem, and how much it affects your safety, health or comfort in your home.

  • Emergency repairs which affect your health or safety: 24 hours (for example, a major electrical fault, or a blocked WC)
  • Urgent repairs which affect your comfort: five working days (for example, hot water, heating or fridge failure or a serious roof leak)
  • Other non-urgent repairs: 20 working days (for example, a shower breaking down, when you are still able to take baths)

During our visit, we are giving all student properties our two guides with more information on living and being safe in Our Shared City. For more information, please download them below.

If you are a long-term or student resident in Bath in need of more information or support, please do email us on scp@bath.ac.uk.
